STRAVINSKY “The Soldier’s Tale”

Written in 1918, The Soldier’s Tale is a miracle of musical concision and precision. Each instrument is a distinct voice: trombone drooping and sliding sardonically, adding a mock-military oom-pah to underpin the cornet’s officious fanfares and timpani blows, with bassoon and an ironic, jeering clarinet filling out the texture.

Season subscriptions for the 2021-2022 seasons are available for purchase through the Peace Center box office by phone. Please call to check availability at 864-467-3000. Peace Center box office hours are Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM.

French Language Day – Learn About
Mar 20 all-day

“The French Language Day is a day to create conscience among the official and staff members of the history, culture, development and use of the French language throughout the United Nations. 20 March was chosen because on this same day the 77 members states of the International Organization of La Francophonie celebrate the International Francophonie Day. Because there are six official languages in the United Nations, this day is actually part of a group of other 5 more days meant to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the United Nations.”
