World Affairs Council Upstate, in partnership with the Poinsett Military Interest Group, is proud to introduce General Hans Ilis-Alm, Chairman of Coalition Forces for United States Central Command, to the Upstate.
Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, the United States looked to form a coalition with a common purpose – to fight terrorism. This led to the creation of the United States Central Command Coalition, also known as the CENTCOM Coalition. The strength and importance of the CENTCOM Coalition has continued over a decade and has grown to include 51 nations.
Brigadier General Hans Illis-Alm, Chairman of Coaliton Forces at U.S. Central Command, will speak on behalf of the CENTCOM Coalition and explain how nations are working to promote peace and stability in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility and beyond.
