This class is a Therapeutic Autobiographical Writing Workshop, a practical and experiential journey. During the sessions, we’ll do writing exercises that will help you narrate your personal experiences and give them new meaning. At the same time, you’ll have the chance to practice your Spanish writing skills, expand your vocabulary, and improve your composition. It’s a unique experience that invites you to explore your own stories and life experiences — and without a doubt, it’s worth it.

Objective:
  • Guide participants in using autobiographical writing as a therapeutic tool to narrate, explore, and reframe significant moments or stages of their lives.
Requirement:
  • Spanish B2 level or above
Curriculum Description:
  •  Brief theoretical introduction: Key concepts to contextualize each topic.
  • Guided writing exercises: Activities to explore emotions, experiences, and reframing.
  • Introspection dynamics: Techniques such as guided meditations and visualizations to connect with personal experiences.
  • Writing and reflection circles: Group spaces where participants can share their texts and receive feedback and active listening.

  1. Introduction to Therapeutic Writing
    • What is therapeutic writing, and its emotional benefits?
    • The difference between writing to narrate and writing to heal.
    • Initial exercises: emotional release through words.
  1. Autobiographical Writing Techniques
    • How to structure a personal narrative: beginning, development, and conclusion.
    • The importance of honesty and vulnerability in writing.
    • Using metaphors and symbols to express deep emotions.
    • Practical exercise: “The Map of My Story” (visualization and writing a life timeline).
  1. Exploring Personal Experience
    • Identifying key moments: motherhood, parenting, or transformative stages.
    • Reflecting on the emotions associated with these experiences.
    • Practical exercise: “Letters to My Past Self” or “Letters to My Child.”
