A World Affairs Council Upstate Event
Greenville, South Carolina – October 31, 2023 – Upstate International is pleased to announce that Dr. Josef Olmert, former Director of the Israeli Government Press Office and Advisor to former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, will be the distinguished speaker at the upcoming Conférencier au-delà des gros titres Série event on November 28ème at the Kroc Center in downtown Greenville. The event will serve to inform attendees about the Israel-Hamas War through the unique and insightful perspective of Dr. Olmert.
Dr. Josef Olmert has an extensive background in foreign relations, international peace talks, and academia. Olmert has been extremely active in public campaigns to promote and enhance understanding between Arab and Jewish citizens of the State of Israel. Currently an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina and senior fellow at the Palm Beach Center for Democracy and Public Policy, Dr. Olmert represents a diverse combination of perspectives as conflict in the Middle East continues to unfold. He received his BA and MA in Middle Eastern Studies with honors from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his PhD at the London School of Economics. From this Dr. Olmert has an extensive academic teaching career where he has taught in Israel, Canada, and the United States.
