[Greenville, SC] – November 27, 2023 – Upstate International is pleased to announce that Dr. Akan Malici, a renowned academic and author with extensive experience in international affairs, will be the distinguished speaker at the upcoming Spreker die verder kijkt dan de krantenkoppen Serie event on December 6e at the Kroc Center in downtown Greenville. One of the world’s longest continuing conflicts, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has now, more than ever, been in the forefront of international news due to recent Hamas-incited violence. When and why did the Israel Palestine conflict start? What exactly are the claims of the contending sides? Why does peace seem unattainable? What is a likely long-term outcome? What is the role of the international community and of the U.S. in particular? This event seeks to provide insight on these questions.
Dr. Akan Malici is a Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Furman University. He has authored, co-authored, or co-edited various books and numerous articles on international conflict and American foreign policy. Among the books are “U.S. Presidents and Foreign Policy Mistakes” and “Role Theory and Role Conflict in U.S.-Iran Relations.” He is currently completing a new book on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict titled “A Citizen’s Guide to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.”
