For several years, the Library has been able to offer Indian cultural events because of Upstate International. We knew there was a large Indian community living around the Pelham Road library, but weren’t sure how to connect with them. Upstate International introduced the Library to the TAAL School of Dance, and International Month provided an excellent opportunity to reach out to the Indian community. The TAAL School of Dance graciously shared their time and talent with a performance at the library. We’ve offered several Indian cultural events at the Pelham Rd library since then, and they’ve all been a great success. Not only did members of the local Indian community attend and present, people of all ages and ethnicities also attended. These events exposed the community at large to Indian dance, cuisine, music and the art of henna tattoos. 
We applaud Upstate International for promoting diversity and cultural awareness; and thank them for their support. Their collaboration continues to allow us to engage with the community on many different levels. We are excited for what’s to come in March 2017!
