As Director for the Commercial Service in South Carolina, Dorette coordinates and leads efforts to develop and executive strategic initiatives in the State. Dorette focuses on developing new markets for small to medium sized companies (SME) and is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with statewide partner organizations and manages the Export Assistant Centers in South Carolina.
Prior to joining the Commercial Service in June 2008 Dorette served as Director of Trade Development and Operations for ECI-Find New Markets. Here she focused on SME sector development and international trade strategy and cluster development for economic development agencies.
Dorette has experience in the European market and has conducted seminars at the invitation of local development agencies and trade associations on marketing, finding new markets and doing business in the United States.
A native of South Africa, Dorette has over fifteen years of consulting experience. Prior to joining ECI –Find New Markets, she served as business analyst and account manager for the Industrial Development Corporation in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has a BSc-Agric and a BSc Agric – Hons. degree from the University of Pretoria, and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.
