A0–A1 Level Description: This class is designed for complete beginners and those with very limited experience in the language.

At the A0 level, you are just starting to get familiar with the basics and may have little to no prior knowledge.

By the A1 level, you will be able to:

  • Understand and use simple phrases and everyday expressions

  • Introduce yourself and ask/answer basic personal questions

  • Participate in simple conversations if the other person speaks slowly and clearly

No prior experience is needed—this is a great place to start your language journey!

Learning a new language is a known way to enhance your ability to multitask, improve memory and communication skills, and upgrade your professional skills. Regular classes meet once a week for a total of 75 minutes. Intensive classes meet twice a week for a total of 90 minutes. Students MUST BE members of UI in order to take a language class. Classes are online and in-person. Scroll down to see the start and end dates for your class, and location. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE unless cancelled by UI.
