Come and join the UIWG to learn all there is to know about the monarch butterfly from our speaker Kelly Long. She is a member of the Camellia Garden Club in Greer and serves as the Wildlife Habitat Committee Chairperson for the Garden Clubs of SC. Kelly, through gardening, has developed a love for raising monarch butterflies. It happened when someone gave her milkweed seeds to plant 10 years ago and has continued to grow ever since. Kelly’s gardening areas have been declared a Monarch Waystation as well as a Certified South Carolina Wildlife habitat. Her gardening includes a large area designed to attract pollinators, specifically Monarch’s. Kelly has taught classes at her home on how to plant milkweed and other plants to attract butterflies and how to raise monarch butterflies. She calls her monarch business “The Southern Monarch” which she is in the process of getting it approved as a non-profit in order help preserve the Monarch Butterfly from becoming extinct.
Coffee and refreshment will be served
