Tips for Keeping Your Cool
The temperatures are turning up, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to slow down. Here are a few easy ways to stay cool:
💧 Hydrate early and often. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to reach for water.
🧢 Dress for the weather. Light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a hat can make a big difference.
🌳 Seek out the shade. Give yourself a break from direct sun whenever you can.
🍉 Snack smart. Water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges help keep you refreshed.
⏰ Time it right. If possible, save longer outdoor activities for the morning or evening when temperatures are lower.
Our Community Made June a Success 🌟
☀️ Summer is officially in full swing, and we’ve been making the most of it.
From a packed Camperdown Plaza at June’s Salsa at Sunset to conversation clubs, classes, and community gatherings, June gave us plenty of reasons to smile, dance, and connect.
Every event, every conversation, and every new friendship helps make the Upstate a more globally welcoming place.

Move with Sol
Move with Sol is back with another way to get moving! Coach Maggie will leading the Mindful Mobility class on July 14th at 6pm at the UI House. She combines the calm of Zen and strength training. 🧘 💪

Want to meet a group of warm and cheerful women? Join Upstate International Women’s Group for Coffee at Panera for good coffee and even better conversation.
Bon Dance Festival
An afternoon of Bon Odori dancing, Japanese culture, food, and fun! August 22 at McCalister Square from 12pm – 4pm. Come learn and celebrate!

Camperdown Plaza Was Packed 💃🔥
More than 500 people. One incredible night.
June’s Salsa at Sunset was a huge success, and honestly, we’re still smiling about it.
Throughout the evening, at least 500 people stopped by Camperdown Plaza to dance, watch, laugh, connect, and soak up the summer atmosphere. The dance floor stayed busy, the music kept everyone moving, and the energy was impossible to miss.
Some people came with salsa experience. Others learned their first steps on the spot. A few said they were “just coming to watch” and somehow ended up dancing anyway. (We see you 👀)
Now we’re getting ready for July 24, and we’d love to welcome even more of the Upstate to the party. Bring your friends, your family, your coworkers, or that one person with the “I don’t dance” excuse. We hope to change their mind.
Let’s fill the plaza again and make July’s Salsa at Sunset even bigger than June. 🌅🎶

Move With Sol
The Mats Were Out. The Good Vibes Followed. 🧘💛
Safe to say… we’re doing that again.
Our first Move With Sol class with Karina was a hit! We stretched, breathed, laughed, and left feeling lighter. It was the perfect reminder that taking time to move your body can be both energizing and fun.
Round two is just around the corner!
Join us on July 14 at 6pm for Mindful Mobility with Coach Maggie, where you’ll explore gentle movement, improve strength and flexibility, and give your body a little extra love.
New to exercise? A seasoned pro? Somewhere in between? You’ll fit right in.
Come as you are, bring a mat and even a friend, and get ready to move, recharge, and connect. Your future self will thank you.
A Win for the World 🌍⚽
On June 20th, Upstate International was invited to International Night at the Greenville Triumph match, and it was a big success!
Fans from across the Upstate came together to celebrate community, culture, and a shared love of the game.
It was great seeing familiar faces celebrating cultures from around the world while cheering on an exciting match. Nights like this remind us how sport brings people together across languages and borders.
We can’t wait for the next one—stay tuned for more upcoming partnerships with Greenville Triumph!
Conversation Clubs Updates
CHINESE: CCC looks forward to welcoming participants back at UI House on Sunday, July 12, 3:00 PM!
ENGLISH: ECC’s Sunday evening club will take a break in July and August. Meanwhile, ECC’s Wednesday morning club continues to meet weekly at Jud Hub at 9:45 AM. Please join!
FRENCH: FCC will meet on Friday, July 31, 5:30 PM at UI House. Stay tuned for their monthly theme!
GERMAN: GCC will hold its monthly Stammtisch on Saturday, July 11, 6:00 PM at Three Notchd Brewery. All levels of German speakers are welcome!
ITALIAN: Join the ICC for a lovely night of conversation and Italian culture on Thursday, July 16, 6:00 PM in the UI House kitchen and dining room.
RUSSIAN: RCC will be taking a summer break May through August. See you again in September!
SPANISH: SCC will meet at UI House on Thursday, July 9 and Thursday, July 23– 3:45 PM at UI House…we hope to see you there!
NEW THIS SUMMER!
PORTUGUESE: PCC will meet at UI House, July 27, 7:00 PM. Come out and support this brand new club while learning this beautiful language.
