Beyond the Headlines Lunch and Learn Series

As the world grapples with the lessons of past pandemics, countries are actively preparing for future health crises through collaborative efforts and strategic agreements. Central to these initiatives is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Pandemic Agreement, which aims to enhance global readiness by establishing frameworks for data sharing, resource distribution, and coordinated response strategies.

Nations are increasingly investing in public health infrastructure, bolstering vaccination programs, and fostering international partnerships to ensure a swift and effective response to emerging infectious threats. Dr. Shaniece Criss, Associate Professor of Health Sciences and Director of the Advocacy and Equity Studies master’s program at Furman University, will highlight the importance of collective action in protecting global health and mitigating the impacts of potential pandemics.
